ROB AND CHARLES MORGAN TO MAKE GRAND AM DEBUT AT LAGUNA SECA WITH MARGRAF RACING
Racing series GRANDAM

April15, 2005—Perennial front running sports car veterans, Rob and Charles Morgan will make their Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series debut at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca April 29-May1 driving the Number 31 Pontiac-Riley fielded by Margraf Racing. Sponsorship will be by Querencia, a new prestigious private golf community along the Sea of Cortez in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The Morgans had a very successful two-day test at Buttonwillow Raceway in late March. Despite Rob not driving for over two years and Charles not driving for three, they were soon on the pace and by the end of the two days both were turning very competitive times. “It was very exciting working with the Morgans for two days,” said team owner Bill Margraf. “Both drivers are very competitive. They are used to running at the front and we feel we can make a strong impression at the U.S. Sports Car Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on April 1.”

“I’ve been around racing for a long time, and I’ve never participated in a test where the car ran flawlessly and every change we made was an improvement,” said Charles Morgan. “ These Daytona Prototypes remind me of the Camel Light days (Charles Morgan won 14 races in Camel Lights). Working with the entire Margraf crew and engineer, Kris Mellon was a complete delight,” continued Morgan.

Rob Morgan was equally impressed. “It felt good to get the rust off. I really wanted to push the car and myself. By the second day, I felt competitive. There was another front-running Daytona Prototype team and we went significantly faster. I’m looking forward to racing in this very competitive class and giving a strong representation for our new sponsor, Querencia.”

Querencia, a spectacular blend of beauty and golf, is designed to take its place among the world’s most prestigious golf communities. Querencia offers a Tom Fazio-designed champiosnship golf course nestled within an exclusive 840-acre community in Cabo San Lucas. For more information visit www.loscabosquerencia.com
